Indiana Nitro class of 2025 continues to impress! Michael Hoog of Hamilton Southeastern High School has earned the opportunity to continue his baseball career and studies at the next level. Concluding his senior season this coming spring, Hoog will be taking his talents to Depauw University, an NCAA Division III institution in Greencastle, IN that competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Hoog is an intriguing prospect, as he is efficient on the mound and at first base. During his junior season for the Royals, the southpaw struck out 29 batters and only gave up 4 earned runs in 22 innings of work. Hoog’s earned-run average of 1.27 ranked him #2 overall in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. Producing these numbers in one of the top high school baseball conferences in the state of Indiana had Depauw ecstatic to land Hoog as a recruit. Hoog’s talents have not only been utilized on the baseball diamond, as he was a 2-year starting middle-linebacker for the Royals! Hoog just completed his senior football season, compiling 50 tackles and 2 sacks in eleven games. Hoog’s “bulldog mentality” on the mound derives from his football background, making him the ultimate competitor. Hoog, the son of Jeff and Becky Hoog, excels in the classroom as much as he does in his athletics. With an outstanding cumulative 3.84 GPA, Hoog plans to keep his academic career a focal point in college, as he will work to earn a degree in Kinesiology while playing a role on the Depauw baseball team. Hoog has earned every opportunity he has been given and we are eager to see him thrive at the next level. Congratulations!
