By Paul Gonzalez

There is no better way to ring in the new year than celebrating another college commitment! Zachary Haahn, a native of East Peoria, Illinois and current senior at East Peoria Community High School has chosen where he will be furthering his baseball career and studies after high school. Haahn will be taking his talents to Highland Community College, an NJCAA institution in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in Freeport, Illinois. As a junior at East Peoria High, Haahn led his team with a .364 batting average and an on-base percentage of .500. In addition, Haahn produced 16 hits, including 8 RBI’s and 2 homeruns. Defensively, Haahn was the Swiss army knife of the team. Last season, Haahn tallied innings at catcher, 3rd base, and 1st base. Heading into his senior season, Haahn projects to be the go-to catcher where his talents will be highly utilized on a team that produced an impressive 27-8 record in 2024. East Peoria High aims to have another strong season in 2025 and they will be relying heavily on Haan to lead them to victory. Haahn, the son of Eric and Shelly Haahn, is just as talented in the classroom as he is on the diamond! Haan currently sits with jaw-dropping cumulative 4.4 GPA, making him one of the best all-around student-athletes in our 2025 class. After high school, Haahn intends to major in Education while competing for playing time at Highland Community College. Haahn has grinded for every opportunity and this is one we will certainly celebrate! Congratulations to the Haahn family!
