Nitro 2026 Alton Ostby commits to the University of Dayton

By Michael Adkins

We are pleased to announce that one of the top players in the 2026 class in the state of Indiana has chosen where he will continue his academic and baseball careers! Alton Ostby is a special player, becoming the first Indiana Nitro member in the 2026 class to make his college commitment official. Ostby will be taking his talents to the University of Dayton, an NCAA Division I institution in Dayton, Ohio that competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference led by Head Coach Jayson King. Ostby is a right-handed pitcher that attends Washington High School in Washington, Indiana. Ostby is gearing up for his junior season this coming spring after a dominant sophomore season. As a sophomore at Washington High, Ostby pitched 59 innings for the Hatchets, recording 67 strikeouts and an earned-run average of only 2.97. Ostby continued to flash his production on the mound in a Nitro uniform last summer, garnering the attention of numerous college coaches. Ostby’s production and college potential made him desirable as a recruit. Having earned multiple scholarship offers, Ostby felt that the University of Dayton would be the best fit for his development as a student and athlete at the next level. Once Ostby enrolls at Dayton, he intends to major in Business and compete for innings on the mound as a freshman for the Flyers. Ostby, the son of Chuck and Crystal Ostby, is a big-time playmaker for Indiana Nitro and we are excited to see him become a key piece for the University of Dayton’s baseball team when the fall of 2026 rolls around! Congratulations to the Ostby family!
