Coach Burns was the very first coach for Indiana Nitro when they started with just one 11U team in 2010, the organization’s first year. That team went on to win more than 50 games and five championships, and amazingly, also had 11 of those 12 players go on to play at the collegiate level. Coach Burns has taken two teams to Cooperstown, winning one title and falling short as a runner-up in the other. He is the organization’s founder, and to this day, his mantra of developing coaches to develop players is still his focus. Coach Burns has 20 years of experience coaching baseball as well as assisting coaches with year-round training. Coach Burns has coached more than 75 Nitro players who have gone on to play collegiately, and he recently coached our 15U Gold team in 2023, who went 32-9 on the season and won tournaments at Grand Park. A graduate of Ball State University, Coach Burns works in sales for Bally Sports Indiana (the Indiana Pacers TV Network). He and his wife, Tammy, have two sons, Brendan and Brock, who were long-time Indiana Nitro players.
